Art Berta - Joie De Vivre
Art Berta is a group exhibition taking place between 20.05.2026-30.05.2026 at Bertastrasse 11, 8003 Zürich, Switzerland.
I am displaying a collection of photographs from my archive alongside Marvin Jumo, Julian Huber, Irina Garcia and Marco Schättin.
The focus of my Project is to display the opposite of what my normal intent in photography is. These photographs should not be filled with information, be complex in composition or show a high technical and theoretical mastery, but rather be quiet, “pretty“ and slow. Too often do we run around between work, friends, the gym and bed without taking in the quiet moments. They fill up our days without us ever spotting them because we’re preoccupied.
*All Photographs have been printed by the Film Lab in Zürich on Hahnemühle Photorag and can be purchased on demand via Email or in person at the exhibition.
Young At Heart (Zürich, 2025)
At Knabeschüsse kids and Adults alike spend their time shooting little plastic stars, tin figures or other weird nic nacs. To my surprise I saw two seniors engaging in this activity with a youthful excitement
99 Seifenblasen (Zürich, 2025)
Also at Knabenschiessen soap bubbles are a reoccurring theme. Thanks to technology nowadays you don’t need to blow yourself, but rather have a little machine blow for you, so you can fill the sky in no time.
Porto di Enea (Salento, 2023)
In Puglia you can spend your entire day reading or sleeping at the beach, going for a drive and get the best espresso at any gas station for one euro and find the next beach to do it all over again.
Puglia Supermarket (Puglia, 2023)
The sound of flips flop can be heard going up and down the aisles looking for real italian pasta, that don’t make you feel like a truck hit you. You feel sand residue between your toes. The feeling is somewhere between a pleasant scratch and the need to skip some veggies, so you can go outside and pour water over your feet.
Zein (Beirut, 2026)
I met Zein inside of a stadium in Beirut, that was turned into a refugee shelter when the Israel Hezbollah war broke out on March 2nd. He and his friends weren’t allowed to go onto the field at first, but after some time the officials looked the other way and the kids started doing kids stuff. They played, explored, climbed and ran around and for a brief moment sometimes you managed to forget what was happening outside of these walls.
Cheap Flea markets (Zurich, 2025)
How often do you actually buy something when you go to a flea market? Isn’t it just as satisfying to go through other peoples things and imagine their lives from the viewpoint of the object?
Reflections (My Kitchen)
I don’t remember when I took this photograph, but I’m pretty sure it was the summer I spent riding my bike around, listening to the wind up bird chronicle looking for streets in my neighbourhood I haven’t seen yet.
Streetparade (Zürich, 2025)
In a few hours Quaibrücke will be so full, that sweat will rub from one arm, off onto the next and so on until it is the combination of sweat of a thousand people. The people who can afford boats do not have this experience. They park their boat close enough to the action to be admired by all the common folks and display their lavish lifestyle.
